About Me
Roland Schmidt´- Age: 67 - Retiree
I'm hiking the Moselsteig and looking forward to exploring nature. This website is my personal journal, where I record my experiences on the Moselsteig and share them with others.
After my hike along the Rheinsteig in 2017, I’d like to hike the Moselsteig in July 2026. With 24 stages and a total length of 370 km, the Moselsteig is only about 60 km longer than the Rheinsteig. I’ll start the hike in Perl, the official starting point of the Moselsteig, and hike the individual stages depending on my daily energy levels and mood. We’ll see whether I’ll finish the hike at the official endpoint in Koblenz or somewhere before that.
Instead of staying at a hotel or guesthouse, this time I’d like to spend the nights in my small one-person tent at campgrounds along the Mosel.
I’m looking forward to the little unexpected moments that make a hike so special whether it’s meeting friendly locals or fellow hikers, enjoying the peace of nature, or realizing just how far I’ve already come.

The Impressive View of the Mosel
The view of the Mosel is particularly impressive, and it will accompany me along many sections of the hike. These breathtaking views of the river valley, the vineyards, and the charming villages will be unforgettable and make every bit of effort worthwhile.
